Taylor Keta Biro (she/hers) joined California Consulting in 2022 and brought with her over a decade’s worth of experience in prosperous federal, state, foundation, and corporate grants. Her areas of expertise spans violence and exploitation prevention, food insecurity, vulnerable and underserved populations, intervention for homelessness, youth and child welfare, movement building, and cross-system planning. From collaborating on large international expansion grants totaling $40 million in awards to grassroots funding for community-led initiatives keeping food pantries full. No award is too big or small if the result garners positive change. She holds a Bachelors of Social Work from Florida State University and is projected to graduate with her Masters of Social Work in 2023.
Taylor previously worked as the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Florida’s federally recognized sexual violence prevention coalition, where she collaborated with national and statewide partners with the common goal of improving resources available to survivors of violence. Taylor has successfully authored legislation resulting in laws that increase vulnerable populations’ access to safety. In 2013, Taylor founded a street outreach program that provides crisis intervention and wrap-around services for homeless, runaway, and exploited youth. She remains active in her local community as a Continuum of Care board member and her appointment to the Citizen Police Review Board.
Taylor resides in the deep south on land that is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Apalachee Nation, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida. When she isn’t writing grants, you can find her floating down a river, making award-winning vegan mac n cheese, or rummaging through estate sales looking for porcelain cats and vintage dresses.
