Nadeja Steager brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community health and social equity to her role as a Project Manager at California Consulting. She most recently served as the Director of the San Joaquin Pathways Community HUB, where she focused on improving access to quality healthcare to better Black maternal and infant outcomes. Nadeja also continues her work as the Executive Director of the Community Health Leadership Council San Joaquin, where she identifies and addresses critical health issues affecting the San Joaquin region.
Growing up in challenging conditions, Nadeja offers a unique, informed perspective on severe health disparities and the equitable distribution of resources. She has dedicated her career to improving health outcomes and quality of life for underserved communities, often working directly at the household level to increase healthcare access and utilization.
Nadeja’s commitment to population health improvement is evident in her collaborative approach, working with a diverse ecosystem of decision-makers, stakeholders, providers, and community members. Based in Stockton, California, she sees significant opportunities to enhance health for marginalized and under-resourced populations within the Central Valley.
Her career took a pivotal turn when her impactful work with the San Joaquin County Health Care Services Agency led to her appointment as Chief Aide and Senior Advisor to Stockton Mayor Kevin J. Lincoln II in January 2021. In this role, Nadeja spearheaded initiatives to address homelessness and chaired several task forces aimed at galvanizing the community towards collective improvement.
In addition to her role at California Consulting, Nadeja serves as Chair of the San Joaquin County Equal Employment Opportunity Committee and is an active participant in numerous community committees, councils, and work groups. She is also a consultant, grant writer, and advisor across the healthcare, education, and business sectors, continuously using her extensive experience to drive meaningful change in her community.
