CPD is a competitive grant program that enhances the practice of community policing in law enforcement agencies and helps to reduce crime and enhance public safety in communities through training and technical assistance, development of innovative community policing strategies, applied research, guidebooks, and best practices that are national in scope. State, local, tribal law enforcement, public governmental agencies, nonprofit institutions, universities, community groups, and faith-based organizations are eligible to apply for CPD funding.
