After-School Programs Get a Huge Boost for Coachella Valley Unified School District Who Received Two US Department of Education Awards Totaling Over $2.5 Million

California Consulting congratulates Coachella Valley Unified School District for receiving the US Department of
Education 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant and the UDOE 21st Century ASSETS Program Grant in
the amount of $2,525,658.
Dr. Julie High and CVUSD administration teamed up to write the awarded applications. The US Department of
Education awarded CVUSD the 21st CENTURY Community Learning Center grant for $1,914,858 which will fund
after-school programs for elementary and middle schoolers. The purpose of the 21st Century Community Learning
Centers (CCLC) is to support community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities for
students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools.
CVUSD high schools will get a big boost from the USDOE 21st Century ASSESTS Program which was awarded for
$610,800. This Program is to support community learning centers for students in grades nine through twelve with
academic enrichment opportunities and activities designed to complement students’ regular academic program.
