Ann Vermel, Senior Project Manager- Central California

AnnAnn Vermel is California Consulting, Senior Project Manager in Central California. Ann is is an executive coach and professional writer serving the Community Benefit sector.  She has extensive experience in development and executive management of nonprofit organizations, with special emphasis on the arts, higher education and community service organizations.

Her background includes service as Executive Director of the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, Artistic Administrator at the San Francisco Opera and Director of Development for the General Libraries at the University of California Berkeley, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for Menlo College and Director of Development for De Anza College.  She was a founding officer of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, and has served as a grants reader for the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Department of Justice.

Since returning to the Central Valley, she has worked with a broad cross section of the Valley’s community service organizations.   As a development professional and consultant her leadership has raised more than $72 million for her clients.  Ann has an AB from Barnard College and an MFA from California State University Fresno.  She has a Certificate in Arts Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and is retired as a Certified Fund Raising Executive.  She is currently a fellow of Creating the Future.  She lives in Fresno, California.

Grant Secured for City of Chino HRP Program

chinoCalifornia Consulting, has helped secure a $580,650 grant for the City of Chino for the Housing Related Parks (HRP) Program.

The City of Chino plans to spend the majority of the funds on Community Development Projects and Public Service Programs. They also had a $36,796 surplus from last years program, which will be spent on the Chino Old Schoolhouse Museum Restroom Project.

Housing-Related Parks (HRP) Program uses voter-approved funds from the Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2006 to expand and improve the availability of parks and recreation facilities within communities. The largest share of the funding, 71 percent is allocated to communities that are both disadvantaged and park-deficient.

Communities can apply for the funding if they meet a threshold of requirements, including having submitted an approved Housing Element plan. The amount of the award is based on the number of new affordable housing units the city or county has permitted.

California Consulting LLC Client City of Oakley Receives Rubberized Pavement Grant and Tire Derived Product Grant totaling $118,360

The City of Oakley receives two major grant awards. The City of Oakley is one of California’s youngest cities. Residents enjoy a charming area with an abundant housing supply, quality schools, and a friendly atmosphere that truly make Oakley, “A Place for Families in the Heart of the Delta.”

 Today a landscape of gently rolling fields, orchards, and vineyards gives us a glimpse of Oakley’s agricultural past. From a quiet Delta farming town, Oakley has blossomed into a growing community of landscaped parks, abundant recreational opportunities, shopping centers, and planned business and commercial development.

California Consulting LLC Announces Record Breaking Grant Awards over last 90 Days

California Consulting is pleased to announce our record breaking grant awards over the last 90 days totaling over 3 million dollars!


Tristan Shamp,California Consulting Statewide Grants Manager, said “The high number of recent grant awards for our clients is a testament to the quality of the grant writing performed by California Consulting’s grant writing team. It is significant to note that Whittier City School District was awarded a very competitive California Math Science Partnership (CaMSP) grant from the California Department of Education.  This was the only CaMSP application CDE funded in L.A. County and one of only 11 awards statewide.”

Palm Springs Grants Workshop

Larry Kosmont, President Kosmont Companies, delivered a wonderful presentation on finances. This event was attended more than 40 cities, school districts, water district, non-profits, and others from Coachella Valley.
